Life Path Number

Numerology is a mystical divinatory art, similar to astrology. And just like astrology, numerology can be super personalized — as everyone has a unique numerology chart and your birthday says something essential about your personality. More broadly, adherents of numerology believe that numbers, and the associations between them, are mystical and meaningful. Some people believe they can be used to predict the future; others consider numbers largely symbolic.

Ever made a wish on the clock at 11:11? Then you might already be familiar with the synchronistic power of numerology. Numerology is the study of numbers and their mystical meanings, and in this ancient practice, all numbers are believed to have unique vibrations. The numbers in our life can be used as tools to help us better understand ourselves and navigate our lives with a greater sense of purpose — and knowing how to find your life path number and use it to your advantage is one of the best ways to start aligning with this energy.

What Is Your Li

fe-Path Number?

“Life path numbers help us to understand the physical world and where we’re going in life, "Numerologists and Astrologers say that. “Once you know your life path number, it can be used to [make sense of your path] when you get distracted or discouraged.” Our life path number represents our core essence, our lifelong purpose, and our modus operandi, so it’s considered the most significant aspect of our personal numerological makeup. The “life-path number,” purports to reveal essential truths about your personality, outlook, and challenges in life.

Life path numbers ( Sometimes called Sun Number) can be any single digit number between 1 and 9, or one of the three master numbers, which are 11, 22, and 33. Each of these numbers is associated with unique qualities, strengths, and weaknesses

They’re considered the most significant numbers in our personal numerology charts — similar to the importance of the sun sign in astrology. “Life path number meanings will always bring us back to reality.”

How do I calculate my life-path number?

There are 2 ways to calculate a Life Path number:

A. Simplified method

B. 3 Cycle method

For an automatic calculator visit:

Usually both are the same result, yet I advise to use both, as in some cases they differ in master numbers.

The Master Number — is the higher-octane iteration of the single number, adding to it the sense of a big role to it. The simplest form of this role or mission is being a role model of the sense of the number.

Path Life number

2 its Octane is 11

4 its Octane is 22

6 its Octane is 33

The numbers 11, 22, and 33 are not always associated with “mastery.” For example, when you see 11:11 on the clock, or the date,11th or 22nd of the month, whether it happens to be November (the 11th month), these numbers do not significantly impact us. A single minute, date or month – let alone a universal impact rather than a personal one – is not long-lasting and is too familiar to affect us to the extent that an actual Master Number would have.

Here are two examples for the two methods,

Example 1, where both methods give same outcome.

Example 2 where each method gives different outcome.

A. First Method: (Simplified)

Basically, take your date of birth’s numerical value,

Add up the digits and reduce the total to a single-digit number, but if the total is a Master number 11,22, or 33 do not reduce.

Example 1: (were both methods give same outcome)

If your birthday is August 27, 1978, then write:

Life Path number = 2 + 7 + 8 + 1 + 9 + 7 +8 = 42 = 4 + 2 = 6

Example 2: (were each method gives different outcome)

If your birthday is July 22, 1953

Life Path number = 2 + 2 + 7 + 1 + 9 + 5 +3 = 29 = 2 + 9 = 11

B. Second Method: ( 3 Cycle)

Take your date of birth’s numerical value, add all those digits together by category (year, month, day), and keep adding each of those digits together until you finally end up with a single digit.

Example 1:

If your birthday is August 27, 1978, then write:

  • Day: 27 = 2+7 = 9

  • Month: August is the 8th month = 8

  • Year: 1978 = 1 + 9 + 7 + 8 = 25 = 2 + 5 = 7

Now, add the remaining numbers and again reduce them down to a single digit.

Life Path number = 9 + 8 + 7 = 24 = 2 + 4 = 6

Your Life Path Number is: 6

But if you reach a total of any category: 11, 22, or 33 use the second example below:

Example 2:

If your birthday is July 22, 1953 however, because the day is a master number, instead you would write:

  • Day: 22 (Because 22 is a master number, it should not be reduced.)

  • Month: July is the 7th month = 7

  • Year: 1953 = 1+9+5+3 = 18 = 1+8 = 9

Now, add the remaining numbers and again reduce them down to a single digit.

22+7+9 = 38 = 3+8 = 11 (Because 11 is also a master number, it should not be reduced.)

Got your life-path number figured out? Now you can simply plug that number in below and find out everything that might ever happen to you. (Almost.)

Numerology is an awesome companion to astrology — it helps clarify the sign by providing additional nuance.

How Do I Use My Life Path Number?

However, just as is true with zodiac sign meanings, life path numbers should be used as a spiritual guide rather than a rulebook — as your relationship to them will be unique depending on how you interpret their energy and the way you choose to use it.

You can find a great number of characteristics and predictions tied to each life-path number on the internet, but here are some of the most common traits ascribed to each one.

1 - The Born Leader

(10/1, 19/1)

Just as Aries, the first sign of the zodiac, is about action and initiation, in numerology, 1 is linked to forward motion, symbolizes a pioneering spirit, independent nature and capabilities. Ones are natural-born leaders, ambitious, and usually successful in the professional realm. Charming, diplomatic, and always interesting to be around.

On a bad day, 1 can be a bit bossy or boastful, hiding any insecurities behind over-developed self-importance. 1 must remember that although it is first, it can very quickly become the loneliest number. Even the most autonomous 1s need the support of their friends, family, and lovers. Ones are caring to the point that they may be overprotective and domineering. May also be prone to anger issues.

(11/2, 20/2)

2 is linked to sensitivity, balance, and harmony. Within numerology, the 2 vibration assumes the role of the mediator, creating harmony by bringing together dissonant forces through compassion, empathy, and kindness. 2 is linked to psychic abilities and intuition, and if this number appears as a Life Path or Destiny Number, the individual will be astute to subtle energy shifts and emotional nuances. These people are deeply kind, caring, and empathetic. They’re often artists, though their skill for diffusing tense situations may also make them skilled as politicians.

Because 2 is so sensitive, it is very conflict-averse, and can end up feeling under-appreciated or unacknowledged. Deep sensitivity and conflict aversion can make 2s overly dependent in their personal relationships. They may have a hard time standing up for their needs. 2 must avoid seeking external validation and, instead, realize that perfect equilibrium needed already exists within.

(12/3, 21/3)

Communication is paramount for 3. Symbolically, 3 represents the output of two joined forces: It is the essence of creation. 3 is highly gifted at expression, seamlessly sharing innovative and pioneering concepts through art, writing, and oration. Your work inspires, motivates, and uplifts others, and 3 finds great joy making others smile.

Threes love attention and generally come by it easily. They can achieve a great many things and are likely precocious as children. Always high energy.

Just as easily as threes start big, exciting projects, they often abandon them. Threes likely find it difficult to focus/commit and may become too focused on others’ perceptions of them. 3 is also known to be quite moody, and if 3 feels misunderstood, may withdraw entirely. The escapist tendencies of 3 are easily mitigated by practicing peaceful mindfulness: With such an active imagination, it’s important for 3 to find moments of quiet to reset, restore, and recharge.

(13/4, 22/4, 31/4)

In numerology, 4 has an earthy-energy and is centered around fortifying its roots. 4 adamantly believes in the physical world and knows that investing in a solid infrastructure is necessary for building a lasting legacy. Practical, hardworking, and responsible, the vibration of the number 4 is focused on creating logical systems that can support scalable growth. This is generally a very principled, reliable person, which makes them a desirable friend and co-worker. People generally know what to expect from a four.

There is a solidity to 4, however, that can quickly devolve into rigidity; too fixated on rules and norms. Fours may find themselves easily frustrated by people who create their own guidelines or stray too far outside the box. 4 must remember that rules are meant to enhance, not inhibit. It’s easy for 4 to become stubborn, so 4 benefits from learning to loosen up and think outside-the-box. 4 will feel liberated and inspired by finding the bravery to take a few bold risks.

(14/5, 23/5, 32/5)

Free-thinking, adventurous, and progressive, 5 is defined by freedom. 5 needs to experience the world by engaging its five senses: For 5, life lessons are acquired through spontaneous acts of bravery. Akin to Sagittarius energy within astrology, 5 is known for its playful, impulsive, and vivacious spirit. Fives are inquisitive and intellectual, often making for great journalists and educators. Strong communication skills with a childlike sense of wonder for simple pleasures.

But on the other side of its signature joie de vivre, 5 can become restless and impatient. Since 5 is always seeking discovery, it has a difficult time accepting life’s day-to-day responsibilities — including professional and interpersonal commitments. Fives may indulge a little too much in their favorite hobbies/vices, like shopping or partying. May also come off a bit superficial and noncommittal in relationships. 5 must remember that when it narrows its gaze, it will discover that the most rewarding exploration exists in its own backyard.

(15/6, 24/6, 33/6)

6 is recognized for its nurturing, supportive, and empathic nature. A true healer, 6 has the ability to problem solve in both the emotional and physical realms, helping others through its straightforward, yet gentle, approach. 6 has a strong sense of responsibility, and cares deeply for its friends, family, and lovers. Not everything needs to be parented, and sometimes 6’s protective energy can become domineering and controlling. To avoid carrying the world on its shoulders, 6 must learn to build trust and understanding for others: Simply put, everyone must follow their own unique path.

(16/7, 25/7, 34/7)

The detectives of numerology, 7 is known for its investigative abilities and analytical skills. Astrologically, the number 7 can be thought of as a blend of Virgo and Scorpio energy: 7 is extremely detail-oriented, but is driven by inner-wisdom as opposed to tangible realities. 7 has a keen eye, and its astute observations fuel a quick-witted, inventive spirit.

Deeply creative with a strong and vivid imagination, sevens thrive in the internal world. They’re able to entertain themselves endlessly and are rarely bored.

Unsurprisingly, this type can be a bit shy and may have a hard time connecting with other people. They may also have a hard time relaxing, moving constantly between work and constructive hobby. Because 7s can quickly find the flaws in almost any system, 7 is a bit of a perfectionist. 7 will often assume fault, so it’s important for this number to counterbalance its inherent skepticism with an open mind. Not everything will be foolproof — but that’s what makes life fun.

(17/8, 26/8, 35/8)

8 is all about abundance. Within numerology, this number is linked to material wealth and financial success. Ambitious and goal-oriented, 8 can effortlessly assume leadership positions through its natural magnetism. 8 applies big-picture thinking to broaden its scope, racing up the top of any ladder to reach extraordinary heights. Eights are good with money, aware of its omnipresence from a very young age. They’re ambitious and willing to work hard to be self-sufficient and comfortable.

This type’s skill with money means they might be susceptible to grifters, whether professionally or personally. With great power comes great responsibility: 8 breeds workaholics, and on a bad day, can become excessively controlling and possessive. However, its negative qualities can be lessened by giving back to the community. By using is success to help others, 8 realizes that there is nothing more valuable than contributing to the greater good.

(18/9, 27/9, 36/9)

As the final single digit within numerology, 9 connotes an old soul. 9 is no stranger life’s ups-and-downs of life — been there, done that. Accordingly, 9 can effortlessly synthesize large quantities of stimuli, psychically connecting the dots to form a cohesive whole. The mission for 9 is to reach its highest state of consciousness, and to help others also achieve this spiritual awareness. 9 isn’t afraid to transform, and its malleable spirit inspires others to explore their own ranges of motion. Nines are idealistic and deeply principled, unwilling to compromise their values in favor of convenience. They tend to be stylish, agreeable, and generous.

This type risks codependency in personal relationships and may have trouble enjoying the present rather than focusing so heavily on their dreams for the future. Since 9, in many ways, has transcended the physical plane, it must constantly remember to anchor itself. 9 must learn to balance the abstract with the tangible, ultimately finding its place at the intersection of fantasy and reality.
